I've put the finishing touches to the first 10 of my Deathwatch. Like the trail miniature I painted earlier this month they're very much a quick, easy, table top quality, but I think they look good all the same. Apparently at some point in the last 6 months I've lost the ability to paint faces though :/
I say it's two squads, but my Deathwatch collection isn't really structured like most. While I have it arranged into squads etc as usual I all unlikely to ever field them in that way. I'm still uneasy at the idea of dozens of Death Watch being deployed together, to me the most should be 10, and so it's unlikely the full 1500pts would ever see my table. Rather I will pick Kill Teams from my collection of miniatures to fit the needs of the battle I'm going to play, with the Kill Teams supporting one of my other Imperial armies.
Erasmus Phale of the Ebony Skulls (Homebrew). The Ebony Skulls homeworld is a tidally locked nightmare- half the world is in permanent darkness, regularly bombarded by meteors- the other half baked in permanent light and heat from its sun. As if the climate wasn't bad enough both sides are plagued by the world's indigenous life. The Ebony Skulls, along with the primitive human population, live in the small strip of land where darkness meets light, where temperatures are more welcoming to human life.
"Cosh" - a Black Shield, as silent and as mysterious as any, he is known only by his nickname.
Hentar Joi of the Rampagers.
Watch Sergeant Cassius Larl of the Ultramarines
Tenna Murso of the Gold Hawks. Another homebrew chapter, need to work out some fluff for this chapter...
Kochi Batu of the White Scars
Tanaka of the Hell Wolves. The Hell Wolves come from a heavily forested world where the human population live in fear of the Hell Wolf, an indigenous beast more akin to a Daemon than a true animal- capable of shifting in and out of the warp for short distances, allowing them to bypass any defences. As such, the Hell Wolves Chapter have developed a reputation for being able to fight out of any ambush, closer quarters all the better.
Gideon Seraph of the Dark Angels
Finn Golta of the Sons of Cammulus. The Sons are a Chapter of warrior poets, who write poems of their feats in battle which are then displayed on their pauldron. (When uploading this pic I realised I have missed the strapping on the spear. I'll fix that on my next painting session)
Lastly Aegius Barak of the Iron Snakes.
Two big To Dones and we're on to the next ten!
